ACADEMIC TEACHING
(MECHANISTIC MULTISCALE MODELING)
Within the framework of the new English-speaking MSc Program in Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine, organized and offered by the National Technical University of Athens (School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and School of Mechanical Engineering (ME)) in collaboration with Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the first written examination of the compulsory course entitled "Computer Modeling and Simulation for Medicine" was held on 20 June 2023.
By clicking at the pdf file button below, you can access the written examination question paper, contributing 70 percent to the final course mark. The paper was prepared by the coordinator and main lecturer of the course Research Professor Georgios S. Stamatakos, Director of In Silico Oncology and in Silico Group, ICCS, ECE, NTUA. Apart from its original goal, the paper could provide a fast glimpse at the depth, the breadth and the exciting interdisciplinarity of the new scientific, technological and gradually clinical domain of in silico medicine. Therefore, the exam paper might also be of interest to both prospective students and the interested general public alike.
It is worth noting that the globally first course on in silico medicine was introduced by the same individual, acknowledged as the "father of in silico medicine", into the PhD Program of ECE, NTUA, in 2014 (https://www.vph-institute.org/news/new-postgraduate-subject-on-multiscale-cancer-modelling-and-in-silico-medicine-mscm-ism.html). The above course will be taught by GSS in ECE, NTUA (PhD Program) during the fall semester 2023/2024 for the tenth consecutive time.
